HÉLOÏSE BOUJU

- Graduated from the National High School of Landscape in Versailles (France) and the Applied National High School in Paris.

- If she were not landscape designer, she would be anthropologist to walk in the footsteps of Philippe Descola and interrogate about what’s the meaning of « nature ».

- Always with a sketchbook with her, she loves to draw what she sees, with ink, watercolor or oil pastels it’s her way to understand the world, patiently, representing line after line the composants of the global picture and catch this way, their histories.

SIMON GABILLARD

- Graduated from the National High School of Landscape in Versailles (France) and titular of a Technical degree from the Agricultural High School Jules Rieffel in Nantes.

- If he were not landscape designer, he should surely be gardener or wildlife photographer like Vincent Munier, outside by all weathers he enjoy watching the theater of the world came to life and choose to take part or take a picture of it.

- Gardener, he sometimes is when the opportunity comes to him like in the gardens plots of Rieffel in Nantes, in the Fruit Garden of the King in Versailles, in Stolac - southern Bosnia or in Louisville - Kentucky.

Héloïse et Simon are both 30 years old.

They met in Versailles and join forces from nearly 10 years now.

Together they give form to : Atelier Pareto.

PARETO, is a curious landscape designer duo.

As all landscape designers, they make gardens, parks, street, districts, touristic itineraries, territorial studies and answer to public offers.

But PARETO also do investigations. Not quite a detective one, neither a sociologist one, not far from investigation of a reporter : it is landscape investigation which relate the account of an exploration through a graphic narration of an current territory and it’s evolution, of the landscape fabric.

Investigation, since landscape is a crossed and complexe discipline always reshaping its bounders. Since in a single landscape are presents : vegetal systems, a geological bed, humans and their practices, animals, climat … all in their own time line and scale of intervention. All responding to climat influences, social motivations, cultural constructions and economical systems.

Investigation since it is often hard to clear these stories.  As written by the french sociologist Bruno Latour, : « Scales, stakes, durations of all the actors of a landscape are not similar but they are still sharing the same history. »

Narration, since landscape is always a subjective look. We present our own look : progressive discover of a camp field, our meetings with its inhabitants, ou deeper investigation of the reasons of the entire shape. This manner of constructing the account permit to whom did not know this landscape to meet it in the same time that whom know it to look it differently.
